Clinical Psychology

DR MILLIE HOLMES & DR SARAH RUSSO

Clinical Psychologists are experts in mental health. They have undertaken highly specialised training in helping people overcome mental health, behavioural, and emotional concerns that can arise across the lifespan.

Clinical psychologists frequently support people with and without a diagnosed mental illness to improve their functioning and pursue physical and mental health and wellbeing.

They conduct a thorough clinical assessment prior to determining a diagnosis and formulation, and developing, together with the client, the best approach to meeting their goals.

Clinical psychologists deliver evidence-based therapy- techniques that are well supported by research- which are then tailored to the circumstances of the individual.

Therapy is based on talking through the clients’ concerns, and frequently practising behavioural, or thought techniques over the course of several sessions.

The length of therapy depends on the complexity of the problem.

Clinical psychologists work to understand, prevent, and relieve psychological concerns whether they are mild, moderate, severe, chronic or complex in order to help people to build full and meaningful lives.
